Poul Kjaerholm PK31 - 1-seater sofa Designed by Poul Kjaerholm 1958
"I am trying to express the very language of the materials themselves." -Poul Kjærholm
PK31 Series Background-Over the years, Poul Kjaerholm created many signature pieces, but perhaps none were as striking as the famed PK 31. Crafted of fine Italian leather, our version of the PK 31 is available in one-, two-, and three-seater versions so you can create your groupings to fit any space at the home or office. The trapezoidal armrests conjure up memories of the stylish seats aboard a transatlantic 707 flight to Paris in the early 60s. The PK31 series is an excellent example of Kjaerholm’s minimalistic style and attention to quality. The collection combines stylish, well-designed luxury and comfort. The PK31 series is great for any commercial or residential project from waiting rooms and offices, to one’s home.

Evinco Design offers the complete PK range in a variety of leather colors including top grain and aniline leather. About Poul Kjaerholm-Poul Kjærholm (January 8, 1929 – April 18, 1980) was a Danish designer.
Born in Øster Vrå, Denmark, Kjærholm began as a cabinetmaker's apprentice with Gronbech in 1948, going on to the School of Commercial Art in Copenhagen in 1952. [1]He was very articulate and with his natural authority he started an outstanding career as an educator in the same year (1952) but continued to study with Prof. Erik Herløw and Prof. Palle Suenson. In 1958 he attracted international acclaim for his contributions to the 'Formes Scandinaves' exhibition in Paris and the award of the legendary 'Lunning Award', the same year for his PK22 chair. In both 1957 and 1960 he won the Grand Prize at the Milan Trennali. His designs are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and other museum collections in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany.[citation needed]
