Background-
The Icon Lounge Chair and Ottoman, in the style of the original Eames Lounge (670) and Ottoman (671) was released after years of development and perfection by world famous designers Charles and Ray Eames. It was originally produced for the Herman Miller furniture company. It was originally and still is built with molded plywood and leather. Examples of the original work can be found at many museums including New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
The Icon Lounge chair is a timeless piece that will forever remain classic, and a true Icon of mid century modern furniture. Its known as one of the most comfortable modern chair and ottoman sets ever produced. It has been said that its so comfortable that when you sit on it, it feels like you’re sitting on air.
About the Designer: Charles and Ray Eames-
Charles (1907-1978) and Ray (1912–1988) Eames were American designers, married in 1941, who worked and made major contributions in many fields of design including industrial design, furniture design, art, graphic design, film and architecture. In the 1950s, the Eames’s continued their work in architecture and modern furniture design. Like in the earlier molded plywood work, the Eames’s pioneered innovative technologies, such as the fiberglass, plastic resin chairs and the wire mesh chairs. I had seen the Eames lounge chair and ottoman many times in stores such as DWR and other online retailers. Eventhough I had not heard of Evinco Design before, they had great testimonials and wonderful customer service, so I chose to take a chance. A chance very well worth it! I chose a classic look of walnut and black top grain leather, which was shipped out right away. From the date I placed the order to the day I received it, it was about 5 days- a very smooth process. Once received, I was VERY pleasently surprised at the quality of this set. It was definitely far above my expectations! I would definitely shop here again, and would recommend to all.
Great Quality and Comfort
I ordered a custom color [ebony wood with chocolate brown leather] Eames lounge chair and ottoman from evincodesign.com and had it delivered 6 weeks later. I didn't know what to expect since it was my first purchase here but the quality was great. The wood looked good, leather was soft, and it was a well constructed set.
