Background-
In the 1940’s Eero Saarinen developed the pedestal Tulip table, along with the Tulip chair, as part of his research of "organic furniture.” The Tulip Table started out with a cast iron base. It came with various tops in laminate, marble or wood, could be round or oval, and was available in various sizes. Today, the base is made of glossy fiberglass same as the chairs. A fabulous table that looks good with any chair, modern or traditional. A beautiful sculpture, a piece of art.
About the Designer: Eero Saarinen-
Eero Saarinen (pronounced [eːro saːrinen]) (August 20, 1910 – September 1, 1961) was a Finnish American architect and product designer of the 20th century famous for varying his style according to the demands of the project[citation needed]: simple, sweeping, arching structural curves or machine-like rationalism. Saarinen first received critical recognition, while still working for his father, for a chair designed together with Charles Eames for the "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" competition in 1940, for which they received first prize. The "Tulip Chair" became the basis of the seating used on the original Star Trek television series. He designed many important pieces of furniture including the "Grasshopper" lounge chair and ottoman (1946), the "Womb" chair and ottoman (1948), the "Womb" settee (1950), side and arm chairs (1948-1950), and his most famous "Tulip" or "Pedestal" group (1956), which featured side and arm chairs, dining, coffee and side tables, as well as a stool. His Womb chair and ottoman, as well as his "Tulip" collection, have remained in production and are considered iconic.

The tulip marble table looks even better in person than it does online. I’ve been looking at this table for a while and finally bought one. It was in stock and shipping was quick! The marble was definitely high quality; I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a true bargain for the price. I’ve been marble tables in retail stores for much more and the marble wasn’t as nice. Highly recommended.
I called in first to make sure its Italian marble, and not Chinese marble. It was confirmed that its in fact Italian Marble. I went ahead and placed the order, and the table was delivered within a week or so. It was gorgeous! My husband had some previous experience with marble and he also confirmed that it’s excellent Italian marble. We’re very happy with our purchase.
WELL BUILT
I was a little worried the table would be unstable due to its funky design, but I was assured that won’t be the case. I received the table, put it together, and was thrilled with the results. When placed on a flat surface, there is absolutely no tilt or rocking or anything. It’s a heavy, sturdy table and definitely well built. You can lean on one side and it won’t start tipping. Assembly was simple. One of my best online purchases.
EASY ASSEMBLY
Heavy marble top but assembly was simple. Took about 10 minutes and now we’re set. Had our first dinner at the table last night, and first breakfast there this morning. Table really is good looking. We purchased tulip arm chairs too and the set looks great!
The Eero Saarinen Tulip Marble series features either a marble or fiberglass top. Marble can be selected in either black or white marble, and the base comes in white or black. The fiberglass can be selected in either black, white, or red.
